VOLUNTEER

You can make all the difference.

Unfortunately we are not able to add new volunteers or interns at this time.

Green Mountain Animal Defenders is a volunteer-run animal protection organization. Volunteering is a great way to share your talents, learn new skills, make new friends, and above all help animals. We connect volunteers to projects that draw on their existing skills, offer learning opportunities, and meet the volunteer's objectives.

There are also many volunteer and internship opportunities. Whether you're a master at marketing, a powerful communicator, a great organizer, or have other skills, there are many ways in which you can contribute to promoting the well-being of animals.

  • Wildlife in Need (WIN) Project: Have time on hands? Have carpentry skills? We need people to build platform wildlife nesting boxes and platform feeders. All supplies will be provided or we would be happy to reimburse you for your expenses. You’ll feel good saving the lives of rehabilitated wildlife.

  • Event Coordinator: We need an organized, enthusiastic and outgoing Event Coordinator who can work on special events, including our annual meeting.

  • Writing and Research: We like to stay visible in the media. Volunteers can write assigned articles or spearhead their own research and writing projects on topics of interest to them. Articles may be used in our newsletter or submitted as editorials to newspapers.

  • Education and Outreach: Work as an ambassador for us by hosting an educational table. Tabling is done on Church Street in Burlington, at local colleges, and at community events. Topics span a wide range of animal welfare issues.

  • Fundraising: We host and participate in a large number of events and run campaigns throughout the year, and we always need funds to successfully execute these activities! Bring your own talents and ideas or contribute to our existing fundraising efforts.

  • Online: We need help updating and maintaining our invaluable Internet resources. Keep news and event information up to date, recruit Facebook members, and use Facebook to advertise our campaigns and events.

  • Transport Team: Help transport, rehabilitate, and provide homes for sick, injured, or homeless animals. Our heroic transport team is directly involved in improving the lives of animals and people alike.

  • Activist / Organizer: Contribute your energy and passion for animals to our protests. Other activist possibilities include promoting vivisection alternatives at local colleges, demonstrating for fur awareness outside clothing retailers, and more.

  • Board Director: The Board of Directors is the leadership arm of the organization and sets the tone, provides stability to the organization and continuously evaluates and enhances our programs.

  • Develop Your Own Campaign: Can you think of an advocacy opportunity not on this list? Create your own campaign on a topic important to you! Work with our volunteer coordinator to get your ideas approved and implemented!
